Make Eliademy Speak Your Language

We want to make Eliademy available for all languages in the world. For this we need your help. One string, sentence or a whole language, any help is much appreciated. Join our translation community!

Translation crash course

Registration is optional, but highly recommended. As a registered user you will be able to contribute translations much faster and also your name will be shown in contributors list. Your account on Translation server is not linked with you Eliademy account, and you choose any username/password combination. Once you register, please let us know your registration name and your language by dropping us an email to support@eliademy.com or by pressing "Feedback" button on you right.

Now you can click on the language you would like to contribute, you will see 2 subprojects:

  • Terminology - the collection of most common words used on the Internet. It issued for autosuggesting translations, but you can skip it for now.
  • Eliademy - all text you see on Eliademy, click it

You will see 3 files:

  • app.po - text you see after you log into Eliademy. Entire user interface. This is the most important file to start with.
  • base.po - text you see before you log into Eliademy. For example text on sign in/up windows and landing pages.
  • theme.po - text of email and web notifications.

Now you can click on "Untranslated strings" and suggest your translation, or check existing strings and fix them if you find them incorrect. Please make sure you press button "Submit" when you make a correction or add a new string. Only "submitted" string will be visible to all users. Strings with no translation or marked with "need info" will be displayed in English.

New translations are released every Monday. For example, if you add we translation over the weekend, you will see them after logging in on the following Monday.

Terminology guidelines

Many of Eliademy strings are generated automatically and sometimes you will see text with % symbol. In such cases whole sentence needs to be translated, except for the text with % symbols. For example:

  • Enrol to {%coursename%} -> Записаться на {%coursename%}
  • I'm enjoying this course %COURSENAME @Eliademy -> Мне нравиться курс %COURSENAME на @Eliademy

However, if you see a text in between {}, it needs to be translated as well. For example:

  • To attach files {select files from your computer}| or {Google Docs}| -> Чтобы прикрепить файлы {выберите файлы с вашего компьютера} | или {Google Docs} |.

Also, please do not translate email addresses you might see in the text.

I just saw a typo, how to do fix it?

If you noticed a typo, inconsistency, or you simply think translation does not make sense, please navigate to your language file sub page and enter exact text with a typo in the search box. When match is found, correct it and press "submit". You will see this change live on the following Monday.

If you did notice a typo in English, please let us know via Feedback button.

I don't see my language here, what should I do?

Please request your language via the Feedback button at the side of the page. We will enable it and you will be able to translate English text to your language. Once about 90% of app.po and theme.po is ready, please let us know and we will enable it for all Eliademy users.

I would like to become language maintainer?

Please register and contact via the Feedback button. We are always looking for volunteers who speaks languages Eliademy team didn't yet master.

Need more help?

Check the help pages for Pootle (the software used for this site).
